Project Overview
MB Millwork completed a kitchen renovation in Lyndhurst, NJ, for a 13'2" x 14'4" kitchen that needed better storage, a clearer work zone, and a finish that felt more in step with the rest of the home. We installed shop-built custom cabinetry in a warm ivory tone, paired it with a 7' white oak island, quartz countertops with soft gray movement, and a handmade-look ceramic backsplash behind the range. The finished kitchen now has deeper drawer storage, a wider prep area, and a cleaner layout that makes day-to-day cooking easier.
The Problem
Before the renovation, the Lyndhurst kitchen had aging oak cabinets, worn laminate counters, and a tight passage between the sink wall and the refrigerator run. The corner storage was difficult to reach, and the darker finishes made the room feel smaller and more crowded than it really was. The homeowners wanted a brighter space with better storage and a layout that worked better for cooking and gathering.
The Challenge
The kitchen included a soffit across part of the main cabinet wall and a side doorway near the prep area, so the cabinet layout had to be measured carefully. We also needed to fit a usable island into the room without narrowing the route to the dining area.
Our Solution
We began with a free 3D design consultation and mapped out a layout that improved circulation while maximizing storage on every wall. Our shop fabricated the cabinetry in Lyndhurst using plywood construction, soft-close hardware, and painted shaker fronts, while the white oak island added warmth, extra drawers, and a durable prep surface. We finished the space with quartz countertops, a full-height backsplash behind the range, and custom trim work around the soffit and openings so the room looked fully built in.
The Result
The completed kitchen feels brighter, more open, and much more organized. The ivory cabinetry softens the room, the oak island gives it a natural focal point, and the quartz surfaces make cleanup easier after meals. Small details like the fitted trim and backsplash helped the entire room feel finished instead of pieced together.
