Project Overview
MB Millwork recently completed a kitchen renovation in Lyndhurst, NJ, for a 12'10" x 14'6" kitchen that needed a better layout and a more finished look for everyday use. We installed shop-built custom cabinetry in a soft linen white, added a 7'1" white oak island with seating for three, and finished the room with quartz countertops, a full-height ceramic backsplash behind the range, and soft-close hardware throughout. The homeowners now have more usable storage, a clearer prep zone, and a kitchen that feels easier to cook in from breakfast through dinner.
The Problem
Before the renovation, the Lyndhurst kitchen had older builder-grade cabinets, worn laminate counters, and a tight passage between the sink and refrigerator wall. The corner storage was hard to reach, and the finish details were dated, so the room felt smaller and busier than it needed to. The homeowners wanted a kitchen that worked better for cooking, storage, and family time.
The Challenge
The space included a soffit over part of the sink wall and a side doorway close to the main work area, which made cabinet sizing and island placement more complicated. We also had to keep the seating area comfortable without narrowing the walkway into the dining room.
Our Solution
We started with a free 3D design consultation and mapped out a layout that improved storage while keeping the room open and practical. The cabinetry was fabricated in our Lyndhurst shop with plywood construction, painted shaker fronts, and full-extension drawers, while the white oak island was built with extra-deep storage and a durable quartz top. We finished the kitchen with a full-height backsplash behind the range and custom trim work around the soffit and openings so everything looked intentional.
The Result
The finished kitchen feels brighter, more organized, and easier to move through. The linen white cabinets lighten the room, the oak island adds warmth, and the quartz surfaces give the homeowners a durable workspace that’s simple to maintain. Small details like the fitted trim and backsplash helped the whole room feel complete instead of pieced together.
