Lyndhurst Kitchen Renovation with Custom Millwork
Kitchen renovation in Lyndhurst, NJ with custom cabinetry, quartz countertops, and white-glove installation by MB Millwork.
Project Overview
MB Millwork recently finished a kitchen renovation in Lyndhurst, NJ, for a 12'8" x 14'4" space that needed better storage and a layout that felt easier to live with. We installed shop-built custom cabinetry in a soft almond white, a 6'6" rift-cut white oak island, quartz countertops with light gray veining, and a full-height stacked subway backsplash behind the range. The homeowners now have a cleaner work zone, more usable drawer space, and a kitchen that feels calmer from one end of the room to the other.
The Problem
Before the renovation, the Lyndhurst kitchen had older maple cabinets, a narrow prep area between the sink and range, and a peninsula that cut into the main walkway. The laminate countertops showed wear around the sink, and the upper cabinets stopped short of the ceiling, which left the room feeling unfinished. Storage was limited, so small appliances and pantry items were spread across the counters.
The Challenge
The room had a soffit across part of the sink wall and a side door near the refrigerator run, which made cabinet sizing and island placement more complicated. The homeowners also wanted a real seating edge at the island without crowding the path into the dining area.
Our Solution
We started with a free 3D design consultation and built a layout that improved storage while keeping the room open and practical. The cabinetry was fabricated in our Lyndhurst shop with plywood construction, soft-close hardware, and painted maple doors, while the island was built in rift-cut white oak for a bit of contrast. We finished the kitchen with quartz countertops, a full-height backsplash behind the range, and custom trim details to make the soffit and openings look intentional.
The Result
The completed kitchen feels brighter, more open, and much more organized. The soft almond white perimeter cabinets balance nicely with the oak island, and the new layout gives the homeowners better flow for cooking and cleanup. Details like the full-height backsplash and fitted trim make the room feel finished without adding visual clutter.
“The kitchen feels much easier to use now, and the cabinets are built really well. MB Millwork kept everything organized from the design through the install.”
Client Outcome
The homeowners now use the island for breakfast, prep work, and casual dinners, and they’ve got far less clutter on the counters. They said the kitchen finally fits the way they cook and gather as a family.
