Project Overview
MB Millwork recently completed a kitchen remodeling project in Secaucus, NJ, for a 12'5" x 14'9" kitchen that needed a better layout and a cleaner finish for everyday use. We installed shop-built custom cabinetry in a warm linen white, paired it with a 7'0" rift-cut white oak island, quartz countertops with soft gray veining, and a full-height ceramic backsplash behind the range. The homeowners now have more storage, a wider prep area, and a kitchen that feels easier to use from morning coffee to weeknight dinners.
The Problem
Before the remodel, the Secaucus kitchen had older maple cabinets, worn laminate countertops, and a peninsula that made the walkway into the dining area feel tight. The corner storage was awkward, and the room didn’t have enough drawer space for cookware, small appliances, and pantry items. The homeowners wanted a brighter kitchen that functioned better for daily cooking and cleanup.
The Challenge
The kitchen had a soffit across part of the sink wall and a rear door close to the refrigerator run, which limited cabinet sizing and made the island placement more complicated. We also had to preserve a comfortable traffic path while still adding seating and useful prep space.
Our Solution
We started with a free 3D design consultation and mapped out a layout that improved flow without wasting usable wall space. The cabinetry was fabricated in our Lyndhurst shop with plywood construction, soft-close hinges, and full-extension drawer slides, while the white oak island added warmth and extra storage. We finished the room with quartz countertops, a full-height backsplash behind the range, and custom trim to make the soffit and wall transitions look built in.
The Result
The finished kitchen feels brighter, more open, and much more organized. The linen white perimeter cabinets and oak island give the room a balanced look, while the new countertop runs and storage upgrades make meal prep and cleanup simpler. Every detail fits the space cleanly, so the kitchen now feels tailored to the home instead of patched together.
