Project Overview
MB Millwork recently completed a kitchen remodeling project in Carlstadt, NJ, for a 12' x 14' kitchen that needed a better layout and more storage for everyday use. We built and installed shop-fabricated custom cabinets in a soft warm white finish, paired them with a 6' stained oak island, quartz countertops, and a full-height ceramic backsplash. The finished kitchen now feels easier to move through, brighter, and much more organized for cooking and family time.
The Problem
Before the remodel, the Carlstadt kitchen had older maple cabinets, limited drawer storage, and a narrow prep area that made the room feel crowded. The peninsula cut into the walkway, and the dark finishes made the space feel smaller than it really was. The homeowners wanted a cleaner layout with more useful storage and a lighter look.
The Challenge
The kitchen had a low soffit on the sink wall and a doorway near the range that limited cabinet height and island depth. The homeowners wanted to keep the existing footprint mostly intact while still improving flow and adding seating.
Our Solution
We created a 3D plan and fabricated the cabinetry in our Lyndhurst shop for an accurate fit and consistent finish. The design included painted shaker cabinets, a stained oak island with deep drawers, soft-close hinges and slides, and quartz countertops with subtle veining. We also adjusted the cabinet configuration around the soffit and opening so the room would feel open without sacrificing storage.
The Result
The finished kitchen has a more balanced layout and a brighter, cleaner look. The warm white perimeter cabinets and oak island add contrast without feeling heavy, and the new storage makes everyday cooking easier. The updated backsplash and countertops pulled the whole room together in a way that feels natural for the home.

Client Outcome
