Project Overview
MB Millwork completed a custom kitchen cabinets project in Nutley, NJ, for a 12'6" x 14'2" kitchen that needed more storage and a layout that worked better for everyday cooking. We installed shop-built cabinetry in a soft pearl white, paired it with a 7' walnut island, quartz countertops with subtle gray veining, and a full-height ceramic backsplash behind the range. The result is a kitchen that feels brighter, easier to use, and better suited for family meals and weekend hosting.
The Problem
Before the project, the Nutley kitchen had older cherry cabinets, a cramped prep area, and a narrow peninsula that made the main walkway feel tight. The countertop surfaces showed wear near the sink and range, and there was not enough practical drawer storage for cookware and small appliances. The homeowners wanted the room to feel lighter without losing function.
The Challenge
The kitchen had a low soffit along the refrigerator wall and a side doorway close to the island area, which limited cabinet height and placement. We also had to keep clearances comfortable while still adding seating and enough storage to make the new layout worthwhile.
Our Solution
We began with a free 3D design consultation and planned a layout that used the available walls more efficiently. The cabinetry was fabricated in our Lyndhurst shop with plywood construction, painted maple doors, soft-close hinges, and full-extension drawer slides for daily durability. We finished the room with a walnut island, quartz tops, and a clean backsplash detail to tie the whole space together.
The Result
The finished kitchen feels more open, balanced, and practical from the sink wall to the dining side. The pearl white cabinets brighten the room, while the walnut island adds warmth and gives the space a clear focal point. Every cabinet line and trim detail now looks intentional and fitted to the home.
