Custom Kitchen Cabinets in North Arlington, NJ
Chapter 06

Project Overview

MB Millwork recently completed a custom kitchen cabinets project in North Arlington, NJ, for a 13' x 12' kitchen that needed more storage and a cleaner, more balanced layout. We built shop-fabricated cabinets in a soft white painted finish, paired them with a 7' stained oak island, quartz countertops, and soft-close hardware throughout. The homeowners now have a kitchen that feels easier to use day to day and looks more finished from every angle.

Chapter 01

The Problem

Before the project, the North Arlington kitchen had dated laminate cabinets, limited drawer storage, and a small peninsula that made the room feel tighter than it was. The upper cabinets stopped short of the ceiling, leaving awkward empty space, and the finish was worn enough that the whole kitchen felt tired. The homeowners wanted a cleaner look with better storage for cookware, small appliances, and pantry items.

Chapter 02

The Challenge

The kitchen had a radiator on one wall and a shallow doorway return near the dining room, which limited cabinet depth and made the layout tricky. The homeowners also wanted a larger island without crowding the main walkway.

Chapter 03

Our Solution

We measured the space carefully and developed a 3D plan that maximized storage while keeping circulation open. The cabinetry was shop-built in our Lyndhurst facility using plywood boxes, painted maple doors, full-extension drawers, and soft-close hinges, with a stained oak island that added warmth and contrast. Quartz countertops and custom trim details were used to tie the layout together and give the room a cleaner, built-in look.

Chapter 04

The Result

The finished kitchen now feels brighter, more organized, and much more proportional to the room. Ceiling-height cabinetry helped the space feel taller, while the oak island became a practical center point for prep and casual meals. The new materials and hardware gave the kitchen a quieter, more polished feel without changing the footprint.

In Their Words
The cabinets fit the space exactly the way we wanted. Everything feels solid, and the kitchen is much easier to keep organized now.

Client Outcome

The homeowners use the island for breakfast, food prep, and setting out dishes when family comes over. They also like how easy it is to keep counters clear with the extra drawer and pantry storage.
