Passaic Cabinet Refacing for a Fresh Kitchen Update
Cabinet refacing in Passaic, NJ with shaker doors, soft-close hardware, and trim details installed by MB Millwork.
Project Overview
MB Millwork recently completed a cabinet refacing project in Passaic, NJ, for a 12' x 14' kitchen that had solid cabinet boxes but dated maple doors and worn laminate edges. We replaced the fronts with new shaker-style panels in a warm linen white, added matching crown and light rail trim, and upgraded the hinges and drawer slides to soft-close hardware. The kitchen now looks cleaner and more current while keeping the original cabinet footprint in place.
The Problem
Before the refacing, the Passaic kitchen had early-2000s maple cabinet doors, chipped laminate at a few edges, and visible wear around the sink base. The layout still worked, but the finish looked tired and the drawers did not close smoothly anymore. The homeowners wanted a refreshed look without taking on a full tear-out.
The Challenge
The cabinet boxes were in good condition, so the new fronts had to line up precisely with the existing structure. The kitchen also had a narrow walkway by the refrigerator, which meant the installation had to stay efficient and clean with minimal disruption.
Our Solution
We measured every cabinet opening in detail and built new shaker doors and drawer fronts in our Lyndhurst shop for an exact fit. The refacing package included a warm linen white finish, new concealed hinges, soft-close slides, matching side panels, and fresh crown molding to give the room a more finished look. We also adjusted several door reveals on site so the whole run looked consistent from wall to wall.
The Result
The finished kitchen feels brighter and more polished, with clean lines that replace the older worn surfaces. The new cabinet fronts gave the room a custom look while preserving the existing layout, which kept the project practical and efficient. Small details like the trim and soft-close hardware made the space feel much more updated in daily use.
“The cabinets look brand new without having to rip everything out. MB Millwork kept the job neat, and the finish came out exactly how we wanted it.”
Client Outcome
The homeowners now use the kitchen with less hassle and like how easy it is to keep the cabinet surfaces clean. They were happy to get a big visual change without being without a kitchen for long.
