Clifton Cabinet Refacing for a Clean Kitchen Update
Cabinet refacing in Clifton, NJ with shaker doors, soft-close hardware, and custom trim by MB Millwork.
Project Overview
MB Millwork recently completed a cabinet refacing project in Clifton, NJ, for a 12'6" x 13'10" kitchen that had good cabinet boxes but dated slab fronts and worn edge banding. We refaced the existing layout with new shaker-style doors and drawer fronts in a soft ivory finish, added matching crown molding, updated the hardware to soft-close concealed hinges and pulls, and finished the look with new end panels and light rail. The kitchen now feels cleaner and more current without changing the footprint the homeowners already liked.
The Problem
Before the project, the Clifton kitchen had worn slab cabinet fronts, chipped laminate edges, and a few doors that no longer closed evenly. The cabinet structure was still solid, but the finish looked tired and the space felt darker than it should have. The homeowners wanted a fresh look without the cost and disruption of a full kitchen replacement.
The Challenge
The cabinet boxes were built into a tight U-shaped layout with limited clearance near the refrigerator and dishwasher, so every new front had to be measured carefully. The homeowners also wanted a brighter finish that would still work with their existing countertops and flooring.
Our Solution
We started with a free 3D design consultation and confirmed that refacing was the right fit for the existing cabinet structure. Our shop built new shaker doors, drawer fronts, and matching trim pieces in a soft ivory finish, then our installation team refaced the cabinet boxes, added new end panels, and upgraded the hardware for smoother operation. We also aligned the reveals on site so the cabinet runs looked consistent from wall to wall.
The Result
The finished kitchen has a cleaner, more tailored appearance and feels brighter right away. The new door style and trim details gave the space a custom look while keeping the original layout in place, which made the project efficient and practical. Small updates like the soft-close hardware and fresh edge details made the whole kitchen feel more polished in everyday use.
“We were surprised how much of a difference refacing made. The kitchen looks refreshed, and MB Millwork kept everything neat and on schedule.”
Client Outcome
The homeowners now enjoy a kitchen that feels updated without having to rebuild it from scratch. They like that the cabinets are easier to open, quieter to use, and much simpler to keep clean.
